Summary
Brilliant Beginnings Learning Center is looking for qualified, energetic, and fun individuals to implement a Christian-based learning curriculum to our brilliant students, aged 6 weeks to 12 years old. Applicants must be friendly, able to provide exceptional customer service to parents as well ashave a love for children. Applicants must be highly stable and dependable individuals interested in making an impact on our future.
Duties
Director Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Develop and implement policies and objectives of the program in cooperation with the advisory committee.
- Maintain a healthy and safe atmosphere for children.
- Prepare and maintain a budget, which includes personnel, equipment, supplies, and training.
- Develop and execute an on-going program of activities which contributes to the care, growth and development of the children at the center and of each child as an individual.
- Select and orient personnel to work at the center and hire necessary replacements when vacancies occur.
- Provide or make available in-service training for staff members.
- Direct and guide personnel as to teaching abilities and individual working habits. (Regularly scheduled monthly conferences are recommended.)
- Make written evaluations of staff members once a year and discuss individually with each employee.
- Work with parents and children to develop effective relationships.
- Maintain knowledge of first aid.
- Supervise general condition and upkeep of the building and grounds.
- Maintain a system of records (in accordance with the State child day center licensing procedures) for financial and statistical purposes.
- Evaluate facilities, resources, teaching and support personnel, and make recommendations or decisions about promotions, salaries, and dismissals.
- Work with the community to establish a relationship, which will aid in the successful implementation of goals and objectives for the center.
- Work with parents including:
-Interviewing each parent who enrolls a child in the center.
-Being available for telephone or personal parent conferences when necessary.
-Planning and attending parent meetings. Working with the teachers to devise a progress report on each child to be given to the parents four times a year.
-Editing and distributing a monthly newsletter of activities at the center to parents and
administration.
- Work with dietary staff on menus and maintain standards of food service in accordance with the health department.
- Attend seminars and/or conferences in order to keep up to date on developments in the child development field and to aid in in-service training.
- Serve as a mentor and model to the staff on professional conduct, including confidentiality,
best practice, and quality service to children and families.
Requirements
- Child Development Associate (CDA) certification and / or associate degree in related field.
- Proven experience working in a childcare center.
- Sound knowledge of local, state, and federal childcare licensing expectations.
- Strong leadership and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- Detail-oriented.
- Love Children
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or related field.
- CPR and first aid certifications.
- Business management:Our Director runs all aspects of a Brilliant Beginnings. Besides being detail-orientated and organized, they need to keep up with federal and state daycare laws and requirements.
- First aid:Our Directors must have a good knowledge of child safety requirements and be up-to-date on first aid protocol.
- Excellent communication skills:As the face of Brilliant Beginnings, our director must be an excellent communicator, being able to confidently take prospective parents on a tour, write newsletters and run staff meetings.
- Good crisis management:Our Director must have strong crisis management abilities, being able to remain cool and composed in a crisis.
- Leadership skills:Our Director's job is to keep staff motivated and resolve conflicts, which takes good leadership skills.
- Classroom experience:Since our director is responsible for teaching staff, they need to know how to handle a group of children, understand childhood development and have the know-how to establish classroom structure.
