Ese Staffing specialist

The ESE Staffing Specialist is responsible for the administration and supervision of the Exceptional Student Education (ESE) and Section 504 programs. The ESE Staffing Specialist interprets policies and procedures; assists assigned schools with ESE program implementation; and ensures compliance with state and federal regulations.

Reports to:

ESE Director

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education
  • ESE Certified
  • Minimum of 3 years teaching Special Education
  • Gifted Endorsed (preferred, will be required)
  • Knowledgeable of the MTSS process, ESE Eligibilities, and 504 Plans.
  • Excellent communication skills, especially with students and parents.
  • Organizational skills and high attention to detail; written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to travel to assigned CSA managed schools.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

GIFTED:

  • Responsible for scheduling and facilitating all Gifted meetings (Reviews and Staffing Eligibility).
  • Develops Educational Plans.
  • Provide teachers with copies of plans and ensure Receipt of Plans is signed.
  • Create Logs for documenting services and ensure they are being completed per the Educational Plans.
  • Conducts Gifted Screening Assessments.
  • Provides professional development to school-based administrators and teachers as related to requirements of Gifted.
  • Monitors the student record system to ensure that appropriate information is kept current and organized in student record folders as related to Gifted.

SECTION 504:

  • Responsible for scheduling and facilitating all 504 meetings (Reviews and Eligibility).
  • Develop 504 Plans.
  • Provide Accommodations Logs to all teachers to document accommodations provided.
  • Ensure teachers are completing all required input forms prior to meetings.
  • Provide teachers with copies of plans and ensure Receipt of Plans is signed.
  • Provides professional development to school-based administrators and teachers as related to requirements of Section 504.
  • Monitors the student record system to ensure that appropriate information is kept current and organized in student record folders as related to Section 504.

CHILD STUDY TEAM (CST) MEETINGS:

  • Work collaboratively with MTSS Coordinator and school based MTSS Leads to obtain MTSS packets for any scheduled CST Meeting.
  • Scheduling and facilitating CST meetings with parents, administrators, and educators to make recommendations based on MTSS data to determine if evaluations are warranted.
  • Follow-up with parents when requests are made.
  • Monitors the student record system to ensure that appropriate information is kept current in student record folders as related to CST Meetings held.

LOCAL EDUCATION AGENCY (LEA):

  • Perform the duties of being an LEA for IEP meetings with the Speech Language Pathologists and/or the ESE Teachers at the assigned schools.
  • Ensure that all requirements are met for the meeting being held and that the paperwork is properly filed in the students cumulative file (Yellow DEES folder).
  • Assist with procedures that must be followed after the conclusion of the meeting (organizing and filing documents, schedule updates, J-Screen, etc.)

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the ESE Director
  • Assists with FTE reviews and required follow-ups.
  • Collaborates with the Area ESE Director to oversee and ensure the implementation of all state and federal regulations related to special education policies and procedures.

Evaluation:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the school’s policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
