About the Role:
The Assistant Early Learning Teacher plays a crucial role in fostering a nurturing and stimulating environment for young children at the YMCA location in OAHEYMCA. This position is designed to support the lead teacher in implementing educational programs that promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. The assistant will engage with children through play-based learning activities, ensuring that each child's individual needs are met. By collaborating with parents and caregivers, the assistant will help create a strong community that supports children's growth and learning. Ultimately, the goal of this role is to contribute to a positive early learning experience that lays the foundation for lifelong learning.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working with young children in an educational or childcare setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the lead teacher in planning and implementing age-appropriate educational activities.
- Supervise and engage with children during playtime, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
- Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers regarding children's progress and development.
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom, including preparing materials and resources for activities.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills.

The required skills for this position include strong communication and interpersonal abilities, which are essential for interacting with children, parents, and colleagues. Organizational skills are vital for maintaining a structured classroom environment and preparing educational materials. Patience and adaptability are necessary to respond to the diverse needs of young learners effectively. Additional Expectations
- Certification in CPR and First Aid within the first 90 days of employment (training provided by YMCA)
- Completion of a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or equivalent before starting work (training provided by YMCA)
- Successful candidates must pass a background check.

The Early Learning Center is open Monday - Friday 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM
