This full-time position is designed for a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support high school students in a self-contained adapted classroom setting for grades 9-12. The role offers the opportunity to positively impact learners by delivering tailored educational experiences that meet individual needs. This contract position spans the academic school year and is based onsite in Manassas, VA, requiring 35-40 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with diverse learning needs
- Utilize specialized teaching strategies to support academic and social development
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting instructional methods as necessary
- Collaborate with parents, support staff, and administrators to create an inclusive learning environment
- Maintain a safe, nurturing, and productive classroom atmosphere
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification
- Experience teaching in self-contained adapted classrooms at the high school level (grades 9-12)
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to fostering student growth and independence
- Ability to manage classroom behavior effectively and compassionately
