Summary

Our Floater/Assistant Teachers are responsible for assisting Classroom Teachers in bringing our Reggio Emilia based curriculum to light for the children in our care.
- Promote social, physical, and intellectual growth of the children under his/her care
· Have a spark imagination, build self-esteem and help children discover new things each day
· Assist in maintaining inventory
· Meet the emotional, social, physical and cognitive needs of each child
· Substitute in the classroom on an as needed basis
· Assist in restocking supplies throughout the school
· Report progress of children to parents using the designated tool
· Maintain daily open communication with Teachers and Admin Staff
· Maintain anecdotal records
· Maintain confidentiality
· Report any suspect abuse to supervisor
· Maintain a safe and healthy environment
· Attend in-service trainings and staff meetings
· Know and understand emergency and first aid procedures
· Be up to date with OEC and be open to learn and develop the Reggio Emilia approach

Duties

  • Assist in the implementation of curricula activities and encourage participation by children.
  • Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, maintenance, and availability of classroom materials.
  • Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions and progress reports.
  • Encourage self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling.
  • Help ensure smooth, daily transition from home to child care center.
  • Follow all center policies and state regulations.
  • Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.



Requirements

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of professional child care experience.
  • High energy.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
  • An understanding of child development.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Must clear full background check and must pass health screening.
