Job DescriptionMinimum 1+ years deaf & hard of hearing experience required.
This full-time position supports students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a K-12 school setting located in Punta Gorda, FL. You will serve as an itinerant teacher, providing direct and consultative services across the entire district. The caseload includes approximately 20 students, with 7 requiring monthly consults and the remainder receiving direct instruction and support.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering specialized instruction tailored to the needs of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Collaborating with classroom teachers, parents, and support staff to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Monitoring student progress and adapting teaching methods as appropriate
- Consulting with students educational teams on a monthly basis as needed
- Traveling throughout the district to provide consistent services to all assigned students
Qualifications sought:
- Certification or licensure in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education or equivalent credentials
- Experience with K-12 students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to manage a diverse caseload effectively while providing itinerant services
