About the Role:
The Orientation and Mobility Specialist will play a key role in supporting students with visual impairments by teaching safe, efficient, and effective travel skills. Youll collaborate closely with school staff, students, and families to help ensure students can navigate their environments confidently and independently, both in and out of the school setting.
Responsibilities:

Deliver direct orientation and mobility instruction based on students IEP goals

Conduct evaluations and develop individualized plans to meet student needs

Maintain accurate documentation, service logs, and progress reports

Collaborate with educators, vision specialists, and families to integrate mobility goals within the educational environment

Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal regulations regarding special education services
Qualifications:

Valid Texas certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS or NOMC)

Bachelors or Masters degree in Orientation and Mobility or a related field

Preferred: Experience working with visually impaired students in a school setting

Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
