Employment Type: Full-Time (Monday to Friday)
Salary: Starting at $60,000 for licensed Special Education Teachers

Your Role as a Special Education Teacher Building Substitute

  • Classroom Coverage & Documentation – Maintain accurate notes on student participation, behaviors, and progress during classroom coverage.
  • Team Collaboration & Communication – Coordinate with staff, support personnel, and administrators to ensure continuity of care and instruction.
  • Behavior Management & Student Engagement – Maintain a structured and supportive classroom environment by using established behavior management techniques and fostering student engagement.
  • Assessment & Progress Monitoring – Track student progress through evaluations, assessments, and behavioral data collection.
  • Student Safety & Compliance – Adhere to school policies, IEP requirements, and confidentiality standards while ensuring student safety and supporting daily routines.

Required Qualifications:

  • Active PA Teaching Certification is required, such as a Private Academic Certificate or Level I/II PA Instructional Special Education Certification (K–12).
  • All New Story Teachers must have their PA teaching license in place by August 1, 2025.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
