Summary
The Mead School is a small progressive independent day school nestled on 14 beautiful acres in Stamford, Connecticut. We enroll students from Infancy to Grade 8 and honor children as curious and capable learners. Our progressive approach emphasizes hands-on exploration, social and emotional growth, and meaningful engagement with the world. Our Early Learning Centers provide a play based, hands-on, socially interactive learning environment. As a small school we foster close relationships among educators, children and families - creating a nurturing and inclusive learning community.
Currently, we are seeking a thoughtful, innovative PreK Curriculum Teacher. A successful candidate will have a deep understanding of early childhood development and the unique needs of PreK aged students.
Duties
Design and implement developmentally appropriate, inquiry-based, and play-centered curriculum.
Integrate themes of social justice, environmental awareness, and cultural diversity into daily lessons and activities.
Create project-based learning opportunities that foster creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking.
Cultivate a warm, inclusive, and safe classroom environment where children feel valued and respected.
Organize and maintain engaging, accessible learning centers and materials that encourage exploration and independence.
Support children's social-emotional development through positive guidance and conflict-resolution strategies.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with parents, and support PreK's Home Center Director in regards to parent communication
Conduct ongoing, authentic observations of student growth and document developmental milestones.
Use formative assessments to tailor instruction and support individual learning styles and needs.
Collaborate with fellow teachers, specialists, and administration to ensure cohesive and integrated learning experiences.
Participate in regular team meetings, reflective practice sessions, and school committees.
Engage in ongoing professional learning, including workshops, reading, and reflective dialogue
Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Early Childhood Education or similar field.
3+ years professional experience in an early childhood or school setting
A successful candidate will enjoy developing rich trusting relationships with young children: have strong organization, communication and interpersonal skills; be creative and flexible; possess positive energy; take direction well, be quick to learn.
This is a year round, full time position. Hours: 9 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday, September to August
Must be 18 years or older
Must clear full background check and pass health screening.
Must be available to work between the hours of 9:00 am and 5:30 pm.
