Summary
Ellie's Academy is is looking to hire an Assistant Teacher, for their Edison location; The assistant teacher is responsible for establishing and maintaining a safe, healthy and nurturing learning environment for all children within their care. The job description of an Assistant Teacher should entail, but not be limited to the following:
- understand and support the program
- interact closely with children at their level
- keep children within sight and sound at all times
- communicate effectively professionally with center staff, parents children
- comply in all respects with all applicable laws and regulations relating to childcare
Duties
- Assist the lead teacher in implementing age-appropriate curriculum and activities that promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
- Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times, both indoors and outdoors.
- Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues to create a supportive and inclusive daycare community.
- Help with meal and snack times, ensuring that children's dietary needs and restrictions are met.
- Participate in maintaining a clean and organized classroom environment, including setting up learning materials and cleaning up after activities.
- Assist with diapering, potty training, and other hygiene routines as needed.
- Observe and document children's behaviors, achievements, and challenges to contribute to individualized progress reports and parent-teacher conferences.
- Engage children in play-based learning activities that stimulate their creativity, problem-solving skills, and social interactions.
- Support the implementation of behavior management strategies to promote positive behavior and conflict resolution.
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay updated on best practices.

- Previous experience working with young children in a daycare, preschool, or educational setting.
- Passion for working with children and a commitment to their well-being, growth, and development.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Nice To Haves
Good to have (but not required):
- High school diploma or equivalent; Child Development Associate (CDA) or relevant early childhood education coursework preferred.
- Basic understanding of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education.
