Job DescriptionTexas Healthtech Institute is looking for a Financial Aid Officer (FAO) for its Beaumont Campus. This is a full time position with Monday to Saturday on campus work commitments.
- The Financial Aid Officer (FAO) provides applicants with assistance in completing Financial Aid (FA) applications and determines eligibility.
- The FAO packages students, prepares FA files, and follows regulations in disbursement of FA.
- Processes status changes. Promotes default management and helps students understand repayment responsibilities.
- If required, FAO will provide initial consultation with all prospective students.
- FAO will access NSLDS to review prior loan/grant information of the student.
- Review FAFSA process with student answer all questions that arise while the student is completing the FAFSA via “FAFSA on the Web” (http://www.studentaid.gov).
- Schedule all financial aid awards and cash payments for students.
- Provide counseling to students to ensure an understanding of financial aid basics.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree; or combination of education and experience. Working experience in educational institute or banks is preferred.
- Minimum 5 years’ successful experience in college financial aid in post-secondary educational environment.
- Wide knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g., federal, state, etc.) related to Title IV student financial aid
- Must be passionate to change lives, have good math skills, be comfortable working independently and ready to continuously work with teams to help students succeed
- Experience with NSLDS, COD, FSA Partner Portal, Student Loan
