An opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher to support diverse learners in a K-12 educational setting located in Washington, DC. This contract position is set to begin mid-April and will span the current school year, offering a dynamic and engaging environment for teaching Pre-K 3 through 5th grade students across two buildings.
Key Details:
- Location: Washington, DC
- Duration: Contract through the current school year
- Start Date: Mid-April (tentative)
- Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (includes a 1-hour unpaid lunch)
- Grade Levels: Pre-K 3 to 5th grade
- Buildings: Two separate facilities
- Caseload: Potentially up to 12 special education students and eight students under 504 plans
- IEP Management: Familiarity with OSSE and the DC Charter Board HUB or Special Program systems is essential
- License: Must hold a valid D.C. teaching license in Special Education
- Position Type: Contract assignment for current school year
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction tailored to individual education plans (IEPs) and 504 accommodations.
- Collaborate with educational teams and families to support student progress.
- Manage and document compliance through the designated IEP systems.
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet various learning needs across multiple grade levels.
- Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment across both school buildings.
Qualifications:
- Valid D.C. Special Education teaching license
- Experience working with K-12 students in special education settings
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to navigate IEP systems, specifically OSSE and the DC Charter Board HUB or Special Program platforms
- Commitment to fostering student growth and individualized support
