Under the general direction of the department manager and director, the Student Work-Based Learning Worker provides support by performing various assigned duties to gain real-life work experience connected to entry-level employment, career exposure, and/or alignment with school career pathways. The program offers a diverse range of experiences, including entry-level clinical assignments, clerical and filing work, and entry-level finance roles, as well as hands-on manual labor. Each Job assignment is designed to provide valuable professional development opportunities for youth. This student Work-Based Learning Worker position is available to individuals aged 16 and older who are enrolled in Effingham County High School. Students are required to upload verification from an Effingham County School, confirming their active participation in the work-based learning program.


WORK SCHEDULE

  • Flexible based on the student’s course schedule each semester.
  • Part-Time (Up to 20 hours a week)

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Project work: Working students play a vital role in collaborative projects that aim for clear and impactful objectives within the healthcare sector.
  • Supporting activities: Provides assistance to professionals, prepares documents, and undertake research tasks.
  • Practical application: Working students incorporate the insights and skills gained from academic studies into everyday work processes, thereby bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical execution in a professional setting.
  • Learning: Working students have a valuable opportunity to develop essential skills, elevate their education, and increase their career awareness and readiness through hands-on training.


THIS POSITION REPORTS TO:

The Assigned Department's manager and Director.


Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled, full-time student at an Effingham County Board of Education School
  • Work-based learning Career Pathway in alignment with a course in Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) that is related to the career goal, and job placement
  • Good academic standing upon application and throughout employment.

MINIMUM SKILLS

  • Dependable and willing to assume responsibility for developing workforce knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Good Attitude that conveys a positive and respectful demeanor toward EHS staff, patients, visitors, and residents.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and abide by all rules and regulations of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
