Special Education Teacher (7 and 8 Grades) - Support for English/Language Arts instruction
Location: Bensalem, PA 19020
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ developmental, cognitive, social, and emotional needs and design developmentally appropriate instruction
- Conduct academic testing and use results alongside observations to determine special education placement
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop and implement inclusive, differentiated lessons aligned with SLCS curricula
- Develop, monitor, and report on Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) according to established guidelines
- Ensure consistent delivery of accommodations, modifications, and other IEP requirements
- Advocate for students to ensure their educational and social needs are met
- Evaluate student progress and communicate effectively with teachers, support staff, and administration
- Partner with classroom teachers to identify and support students at risk academically or behaviorally
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field
- Pennsylvania Department of Education Certification in Special Education (7-12 or K-12) required
- Pennsylvania Department of Education Certification in English (7-12) is a plus
- Experience teaching English/Language Arts preferred
- Familiarity with International Baccalaureate MYP or DP programs is an advantage
- Strong commitment to inclusive education and ability to work collaboratively
- Excellent research, planning, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and encourage their growth
Compensation: $51,000 – $66,000 per year (depending on experience and qualifications)
