Colorado International Language Academy (CILA) is a tuition-free, international charter school offering language immersion (50% in K5) in Mandarin Chinese, German, or Spanish. Position Overview:
CILA is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Elementary English Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. This role includes teaching English Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies to students in Kindergarten through 5th grade, and collaborating closely with immersion teachers to support bilingual academic development.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver standards-based instruction in English Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies.
  • Teach reading fluency, comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, spelling, and writing.
  • Develop cross-curricular lessons that support scientific inquiry and historical thinking.
  • Design developmentally appropriate, engaging lessons across subject areas and genres.
  • Use student data to monitor progress and adjust instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Collaborate with immersion teachers to ensure instructional alignment and language support.
  • Demonstrate strong classroom management and professional teaching practices.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively in both oral and written formats.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, assessments, and behavior.
  • Conduct formal and informal assessments to guide instruction.
  • Supervise students during transitions, recess, lunch, and field trips.
  • Support CILAs mission and curricular goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or higher required.
  • Colorado State Teaching License OR passing scores on the PRAXIS or PLACE exam in Elementary Education are required.
  • Endorsement, background, or certification in English, Science, or Social Studies preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to teach multiple subjects with clarity and coherence.
  • Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and ability levels.
  • Ability to manage a classroom effectively.
  • Familiarity with integrating technology and data into instruction.
  • Bilingual skills (oral/written) in a second language preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, or crouch for extended periods.
  • Escort and supervise students during transitions, outdoor recess (in varied weather), and field trips.
  • Lift and carry instructional materials and supervise active student movement.
