The Helix School serves students ages 5 to 22 from across the Bay Area who have mild to moderate autism. Our mission is to provide an education that nurtures and develops students capabilities through an evidence-based, integrated curriculum tailored to their developmental level, sensory needs, and emotional regulation.

Position Overview

We are seeking a licensed therapist, counselor, or psychologist to join our team in either a full-time or part-time capacity. This flexible position will work in close collaboration with our Clinical Director and interdisciplinary staff to deliver high-quality therapeutic services to students on campus.

This position includes conducting assessments, delivering direct counseling services (individual and group), supporting classroom teams, contributing to IEP development, and engaging with families. This role may also support crisis intervention, behavior and safety planning, and staff and parent education.

This position reports directly to the Clinical Director.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct counseling services to students (approximately 70% of total hours)
  • Offer both in-classroom push-in support and pull-out counseling services
  • Deliver individual and small group counseling tailored to autistic students
  • Develop and track IEP goals for students on caseload
  • Complete all required documentation: Present Levels, IEP goals, progress reports, session notes
  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings with educators, OTs, SLPs, behaviorists, and administrators
  • Contribute to safety planning and crisis intervention as needed
  • Communicate regularly with families; provide parent coaching and support
  • Attend weekly clinical and classroom team meetings
  • Maintain clear, timely documentation

Qualifications

  • Licensed in California as one of the following: LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, Licensed Psychologist, or hold a valid PPS credential in School Counseling or School Psychology
  • 57 years of experience providing school-based mental health services
  • Experience working with autistic students or those with other developmental differences
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Collaborative mindset and experience working on interdisciplinary teams
  • Commitment to culturally responsive, strength-based, and neurodiversity-affirming practices
  • Familiarity with special education processes and IEP documentation

Schedule & Compensation

This position may be full-time or part-time, depending on applicant availability and organizational fit.
