The Chicago Jobs Council (CJC) is dedicated to advancing workforce development and economic opportunities for all individuals. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Contract Learning and Development (L&D) Specialist to join our Capacity Building Team. This role will focus on the design, implementation, and management of e-Learning programs that enhance the skills, knowledge, and professional growth of our training participants.
Position Overview:
CJC is seeking a creative and experienced E-Learning designer to develop engaging, effective, and innovative online learning experiences for our organization. The E-Learning specialist will work closely with the Capacity Building Team to assess training needs, develop tailored learning solutions, and ensure effective training delivery in alignment with CJCs mission and values. The role requires creativity, a passion for adult learning, and expertise in e-Learning technologies. This is a contract position with compensation provided on a per-course basis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop interactive and media-rich e-learning modules using authoring tools such as Teachable, Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or similar platforms.
- Create storyboards, scripts, and prototypes that outline the structure and flow of courses.
- Apply instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE) and adult learning principles to ensure effective knowledge transfer and learner engagement.
- Integrate multimedia elements, including graphics, videos, simulations, and assessments, to enhance the learning experience.
- Upload, organize, and manage course content within a Learning Management System (LMS).
- Manage project timelines, communicate progress, and deliver completed courses on schedule and within budget.
- Stay current with trends in e-learning, instructional design, and educational technology, recommending new tools and approaches as appropriate.
- Provide end-user support and training as needed for course facilitators or learners.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience designing and developing e-learning courses, preferably in a contract or freelance capacity.
- Proficiency with e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate) and multimedia software.
- Strong knowledge of instructional design models, learning theories, and curriculum development.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
- Experience with LMS administration and course deployment.
- Strong attention to detail, creativity, and a passion for innovative learning solutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience designing courses for diverse audiences or specialized industries (e.g., corporate, higher education, compliance, technical training).
- Familiarity with accessibility standards and best practices for online learning.
- Skills in graphic design, video production, or animation.
- Experience with blended learning, instructor-led, and virtual instructor-led training.
