POSITION SUMMARY
The Young Adult Peer Recovery Support Associate (YAPRSA) assists with improving adolescent engagement and coordination of care for The Clubhouse programming through on-site, off-site, and virtual activities. The YAPRSA is responsible for facilitating trainings and educational seminars, daily group programming, connecting with every new member to provide resources for recovery supports in the community, and ensuring that the clubhouse program is connecting with the adolescent families. The YAPRSA works closely with the Program Coordinator to ensure that the Peer’s community outreach and trainings target facilitating access-to-care for Harford County’s at-risk youth.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure that documentation is completed thoroughly and in a timely fashion as indicated by agency and state standards.
- Every adolescent or contact interaction is documented in Ashley’s Electronic Medical Record.
- Conducts evidence-based programming for prevention and resilient families onsite. Conduct workshops and education seminars in Harford County.
- Oversees and provides support to the youth at The Clubhouse for homework, life skills, and other activities.
- Meets with every adolescent member at intake. Connects participants and their families with community resources for recovery support.
- Administers life-saving NARCAN in the event of an overdose episode. Utilizes CPR/AED in the event of cardiac arrest.
- Completes continuing education as required to acquire and maintain certification as a Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist. Maintains current, accurate knowledge of trends and issues related to wellness and recovery.
- Participates in the interview process for Clubhouse staff and volunteers
- Responsible for participation in the training of new staff.
- Coordinates with Clubhouse Program Coordinator to ensure the site has coverage for all services.
- Maintains The Clubhouse location in a matter that adheres to all regulatory and licensing requirements.
- Ensures youth participants complete their routine CRAFFT self-assessments.
- Communicates with family members and referral sources.
- Oversees program communication with patient family/support system and facilitates family educational sessions.
- Participates in Peer to Peer reviews and advocates for the appropriate level of care needed to effectively treat the adolescent.
- Ensures that the environment of The Clubhouse meets the standards of our agency and accrediting body through performing routine walkthroughs of site and working with janitorial service and facilities to ensure that the environment is clean and orderly.
- Attends outreach events in efforts to attract referrals and inform the community about offered programs.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES FOR YAPRSS:
- Have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalency.
- The ability to pass a state and federal child background investigation
- The ability to pass a state and federal criminal investigation through fingerprinting.
- Certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist within 12 months from the date of hire from the Maryland Addictions Professional Certification Board (MAPCB)
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Speak clearly; basic written skills; basic mathematical skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include outlook, excel and word.
- Communicate well with patients, enforcing policies and procedures in a fair but firm manner.
- A valid driver’s license with clean driving record required.
- CPR/AED certification required.
- NARCAN training required.
- Requires mobility of a frequent nature due to the logistical nature of working with the adolescents.
