Providence Hall is a charter school located in Herriman UT. Central to the school's mission is teaching students to think critically, communicate effectively, and act responsibly. Students at the elementary participate in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) School, where the focus is to have engaging, relevant, challenging and significant learning that focuses around six global themes.

Providence Hall is seeking seeking an empathetic, positive, and dynamic Elementary School Counselor to work with our kindergarten through fifth grade students.


Schedule:

  • 8 hours/day on scheduled working days
  • The 5 days before the scheduled start date of the school year
  • Parent-Teacher Conferences
  • Department, building, and LEA professional development, trainings and meetings



Responsibilities:

  • Develop, manage, and deliver a comprehensive school counseling program that aligns with State standards and Providence Hall Elementary School goals.
  • Adhere to laws, policies, procedures, and ethical standards of the counseling profession.
  • Collaborate with the school leadership and MTSS teams to ensure the implementation of the school counseling program.
  • Participate in professional development activities to improve knowledge and skills in the counseling profession.
  • Use available technology resources to enhance the school counseling program.
  • Conduct ongoing reviews and audits to determine effectiveness of activities and programs then adjust and realign accordingly.
  • Implement and provide developmentally and appropriate academic and behavior guidance, individual student planning, preventive and responsive services both individually and in group settings to meet student needs and school goals.
  • Assist all students, individually or in groups, with developing academic, career and personal/social skills, goals, and plans.
  • Provide individual and group counseling to students with identified concerns and needs.
  • Accurately and appropriately use assessment procedures to determine and structure individual group counseling services.
  • Implement an effective referral and follow-up process.
  • Monitor student academic performance, behavior, and attendance.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data to proactively guide program direction and emphasis to meet student and school needs effectively.
  • Perform functional behavior assessments and write behavior intervention plans for students with direction and guidance from site MTSS team.
  • Assist colleagues, parents/guardians, and others in interpreting and understanding student data.
  • Establish effective communication channels with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues to ensure a collaborative guidance program and school community.
  • Actively participate in department, grade level, campus, and LEA meetings, professional developments, and other trainings.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Qualifications:

  • Current valid Utah license in School Counseling (in CACTUS).
  • Master's degree in school counseling preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Utah state counseling standards.
  • Proven counseling experience at the elementary school level.
  • Ability to provide the counseling and guidance needs of a diverse population of elementary school students.
  • High level organizational skills with strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task easily.
  • Positive interpersonal skills with the proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high-stress situations.
  • Creative analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Professional communication skills including but not limited to: excellent written and verbal communication skills; confident, articulate and professional speaking abilities; empathetic listening; and persuasive speaking.
  • Experience with Skyward.
  • Knowledge of Google Workspace and its collaboration tools.
  • Capacity to perform all the responsibilities listed in this posting.
  • Must pass a comprehensive check of education verification and professional references as a condition of employment.
  • Lift up to 25 pounds, traverse school facility, and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency.
