Job Title: Camp Coordinator

Position Summary:
The Camp Coordinator will oversee the daily operations of McColl Center's Creativity Camps, ensuring a safe, engaging, and enriching experience for all participants. This role supports the teaching artists and camp assistants while maintaining high standards of organization, communication, and program execution. While the Camp Coordinator will not be in the classroom teaching or working directly with children, they will assist staff as needed, oversee lunch breaks, and manage drop-off and pick-up. Additional responsibilities include writing the weekly camp newsletter and assisting with the Summer Showcase exhibition of student works.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Leadership & Oversight
- Oversee daily operations of the camp, ensuring schedules, curriculum plans, and safety protocols are followed.
- Support teaching artists and camp assistants as needed to ensure smooth program execution.
- Supervise lunch hour for students, allowing teachers and assistants to take their breaks.
- Staff Management & Support
- Supervise camp assistants and teaching artists, ensuring they have the resources and support needed for success.
- Conduct regular staff check-ins to address questions or challenges and provide guidance.
- Collaborate with the Youth Programs Director to manage staff schedules and assignments.
- Camper Experience & Communication
- Act as the primary point of contact for camper families, addressing concerns and sharing updates promptly.
- Assist in writing and distributing the weekly camp newsletter to keep families informed about activities and highlights.
- Provide support during the Summer Showcase in August, including setup and coordination.
- Administrative Duties
- Maintain and monitor program schedules, staff assignments, and inventory for supplies.
- Assist in evaluating program success, gathering feedback from staff and families for continuous improvement.
- Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with the Youth Programs Director to align camp objectives with organizational goals.
- Coordinate with teaching artists to ensure lesson plans and materials are prepared in advance.
Schedule & Compensation:
- Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with an hour's break for lunch (unpaid).
- Pay: $30 per hour.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children in a camp, educational, or recreational setting.
- Demonstrated experience managing teams, including scheduling, training, and performance feedback.
- Proficiency in classroom management techniques and conflict resolution strategies.
- Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain prior to the start of employment).
Working Conditions:
- Must be available during camp hours, with occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends for training or special events.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and engage in active camp activities.
- This position requires passing a background check.
