Summary

A Summer School Age Teacher job involvesplanning and implementing age-appropriate activities, providing academic support, and maintaining a safe and nurturing environment for students during the summer months.Duties may include homework assistance, communication with parents, and overseeing student behavior, much like a regular after-school program teacher, but with a summer-specific focus.

Duties

  • Designing and delivering engaging, age-appropriate activities and lessons that align with the program's goals, such as academic enrichment, skill development, or recreational activities.
  • Ensuring the safety and well-being of students at all times, both indoors and outdoors, and providing a supervised environment for activities.
  • Maintaining regular communication with parents or guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and any concerns, and potentially providing reports on student performance.
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment conducive to learning and positive interactions, and potentially coordinating with other staff members
  • Addressing student behavior issues in a positive and constructive manner, potentially utilizing classroom management techniques and strategies, and communicating any concerns to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintaining accurate records of student attendance, progress, and any relevant information, as required by the program or school.
  • Summer teachers may need to be flexible and adaptable to changing schedules, activities, and student needs.
  • Some summer programs may operate for longer hours than a regular school day, requiring teachers to be available for extended periods.
  • Summer programs often emphasize enrichment activities, such as arts and crafts, sports, music, or field trips, to keep students engaged and entertained.



Requirements

  • Love working with children
  • Experience in a liscensed daycare, after school program or elementary education
  • Complete a free 15 hour Health and Safety course in 2 weeks
  • Complete a free Pediatric CPR First Aid Saturday training

  • 6 months experience in a liscensed daycare
