Position Overview:
The Education Coordinator will work in collaboration with the Woodfield Principal to ensure that youth entering the program receive appropriate educational instruction. The Education Coordinator will serve as the liaison with the child’s community school district and Greenburg 11 to develop an education plan while in detention, while working to reengage the youth in educational services upon discharge. This may include conducting educational assessments, retrieving academic information/academic work from the school district, communicating with parents/teachers/guidance counselors and advocates, and assisting the teacher with implementing lesson plans in the classroom. Upon discharge from the program, the Education Coordinator will organize a packet of assessments and schoolwork completed to be sent to the parent and the party responsible for continuing academic services.
Position Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Education related Field or Social Work. One-year experience in Education or Child Welfare. Basic computer skill and good written and verbal communication skills required. Ability to work evening and weekend time. Bilingual in English and Spanish Required.
