At Simpson General Hospital, we're seeking a dependable and compassionate Hospital Admissions Clerk to serve on the front lines of our Emergency Department. In this critical role, you'll help patients and families during urgent, high-stress moments - offering not just administrative support, but calm and clarity when they need it most.
Position Summary
As an Admissions Clerk in the Emergency Room, you'll be responsible for quickly and accurately registering patients, verifying information, collecting payments, and supporting the ER staff during fast-paced and often unpredictable shifts. This is a PRN (as needed) position, ideal for someone who values flexibility and thrives under pressure - including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Key Responsibilities

Greet and assist emergency room patients and families

Register patients swiftly and accurately, often under urgent conditions

Collect and record patient information and payments

Answer phones and relay information to medical teams

Maintain a clean, organized, and calm work area under stress

Follow hospital and ER-specific policies, including infection control

Monitor office equipment and maintain supply inventory

Remain flexible and adaptable in a dynamic environment

Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Education & Experience:

High School Diploma or GED (required)

Associate's degree (preferred)
-
1 year experience in a healthcare setting (required)

Customer or provider service experience (preferred)

Emergency room or high-acuity patient experience is a plus
