Summary:
The Workforce Development and Training Specialist is responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering training programs to employees of the agency to ensure high-quality services and supports for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). This position ensures staff are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary to meet regulatory standards, agency policies, and the diverse needs of individuals served.

Duties/Responsibilities:
• Develop, schedule, and facilitate training sessions on topics such as person-centered practices, behavior support, health and safety, crisis prevention/intervention, medication administration, and other mandatory or agency-specific trainings.
• Ensure all training courses meet federal, state, and local regulations as well as accreditation standards.
• Customize training materials to reflect agency policies, procedures, and mission using scenario-based training when applicable.
• Evaluate training effectiveness through feedback, assessments, and competency checks using agency CARE model; adjust programs as needed to improve outcomes.
• Assist in onboarding new employees, ensuring timely completion of required training to include but not limited to Relias, CPR/First Aid, DSP state mandated training, Open Future Learning training, etc
• Collaborate with program managers, supervisors, and subject matter experts to identify training needs.
• Stay current with best practices, trends, and requirements in the field of IDD services.
• Support a positive, respectful, and inclusive learning environment for all staff.
• Provide coaching and on-the-job training support to staff when necessary.
• Assist in the development and implementation of agency-wide training plans.
• Arrange new hire orientation training to include coordinating presenters, putting together new hire packets, training the new hires on opening websites specific to the training and virtual websites, conduct vehicle inspections and ensure presentations are accurate and up-to-date.

• Ability to engage all types of learners and adjust teaching styles to diverse audiences
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable with technology used for virtual training
Education and Experience:
• High School Diploma/GED required; bachelor’s degree in human services, education or related field preferred
• Minimum two years’ experience providing training or staff development preferred
Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Work is performed in a combination of classroom and office setting.
• Must have ability to lift/move materials weighing up to 50 lbs. periodically
