Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver age-appropriate lessons and activities aligned with early childhood learning standards
- Create a welcoming classroom where children feel secure, respected, and encouraged to explore
- Promote physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development through structured and unstructured activities
- Maintain discipline and establish routines that encourage positive behavior and cooperation
- Observe, assess, and document children’s growth, behaviors, and learning progress using appropriate tools and methods
- Build strong partnerships with families through regular updates, parent-teacher conferences, and progress reports
- Follow all health, hygiene, and safety protocols, including maintaining a clean and organized classroom
- Work with fellow teachers, aides, and school administrators to support school goals and share best practices
- Modify activities to accommodate children with diverse learning needs and developmental levels
- Participate in ongoing training, workshops, and staff meetings to stay current with early childhood education trends.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree: A minimum of a bachelor's degree from a GaPSC-approved institution is required. Preferred degrees include Early Childhood Education, Birth Through Kindergarten, or Elementary Education. Some programs, like Georgia State University's Birth Through Five B.S.Ed., offer both certification and non-certification tracks, with certification tracks leading to GaPSC-approved credentials.
Alternative Credentials: For those with degrees in fields like psychology or social work, additional qualifications such as an associate degree in early childhood education, a Montessori diploma, or a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential may be acceptable, depending on the specific certification
Pay: $15.00-$20.00 per hour based on education and experience
