We are currently seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Reading Tutors. This is a unique opportunity for candidates with a passion for helping students with dyslexia or reading difficulties develop essential reading skills using the Orton-Gillingham approach. All tutoring sessions will be conducted online via Zoom in a one-on-one setting, allowing tutors to work remotely and provide flexible scheduling options.

No prior Orton-Gillingham experience is necessary, as we provide comprehensive training. This position is open to candidates with some tutoring experience, and applicants must either have a bachelor's degree or be currently enrolled in college working towards a bachelor's degree.

25 - 35 hours per week → not guaranteed, but we work hard to fill your schedule as soon as we can.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one Orton-Gillingham tutoring sessions to students with dyslexia or reading difficulties.

  • Follow a structured Orton-Gillingham lesson plan and adapt it to meet the individual needs of each student.

  • Teach and reinforce phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension strategies.

  • Utilize multisensory teaching techniques and materials to engage students and enhance their learning experience.

  • Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that promotes students' self-esteem and confidence.

  • Track and document students' progress through accurate record-keeping.

Requirements:

  • Some tutoring / teaching experience is required. Experience working with students with dyslexia or reading difficulties is a plus.

  • Bachelor's degree or currently enrolled in college working towards a bachelor's degree.

  • Passion for helping students overcome reading challenges and develop strong literacy skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to connect with students and create a supportive learning environment.

  • Openness to learning and implementing the Orton-Gillingham approach.

  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
