Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Physical Education teacher to join our Christian school team. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality PE lessons to students of all ages (K-12), promote a healthy and active lifestyle, and integrate Christian principles and values into the curriculum. In addition to the Physical aspect of instruction, the teachers role is to help students develop a biblical worldview in all areas of the curriculum and to help them internalize the subject matter, skills, and attitudes that will prepare them for Christian living.


The duties of the Christian school teacher can be both rewarding and challenging. Classroom sizes are often smaller and more easily managed. However, the workload is heavier because the teacher often teaches more material with fewer prep periods. Ultimately, this extra work is worthwhile because teaching in a Christian classroom allows the teacher to address the child's holistic needs (i.e., spiritually, mentally, physically, and emotionally).


Major Duties:

  • Plan and deliver engaging PE lessons at all grade levels that promote healthy habits, physical activity, and Christian values.
  • Create a safe, inclusive learning environment fostering teamwork, respect, and character development.
  • Develop and implement individualized physical fitness plans for students with different abilities and needs.
  • Use various teaching methods, materials, and technologies to enhance student learning and engagement.
  • Assess and evaluate student progress, provide constructive feedback, and communicate with parents and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Collaborate with other teachers, staff members, and school leaders to integrate physical education into the school's curriculum and culture.
  • As required, participate in extracurricular activities, such as coaching sports teams, organizing fitness events, or leading summer camps.
  • Foster character development, tenacity, and grit through physical challenges and spiritual growth through discipleship opportunities.
  • Assume potential academic classroom responsibilities like health, Anatomy & Physiology, and athletic training coursework.
  • Coach sports teams and lead other athletic activities to provide students with opportunities to compete and develop their skills.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required for the Position:

  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Education or a related field.
  • Teaching certification or license from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in a similar role, preferably in a Christian school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of physical fitness, sports, and health concepts and practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students of all ages and abilities.
  • Be a committed Christian passionate about promoting Christian education and fully agreeing and supporting the schools Statement of Faith.


Additional Requirements:


The PE Teacher must have received Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and shall be a member in good standing in a church of like faith and practice. The teacher shall have spiritual, academic, and leadership abilities. The teacher shall reflect the purpose of the school, which is to honor Christ and pursue wisdom in every class and activity.


The Teacher shall be a college graduate evaluated by the administration to be capable of giving effective instruction to students at the assigned grade and subject level and called by God to the Christian school teaching profession. Teachers must seek and maintain certification from the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).
