Job DescriptionSalary: $60-$70

Our special education itinerant teachers (SEITs) provide services to children in homes, preschools, daycares, our facility and in a community setting. Our SEIT's work with children in CPSE (3-5 year olds) approved for services through the Putnam and Westchester Counties.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT) to provide individualized support to preschool-aged children with special needs in their natural learning environments, such as home or general education classrooms. The SEIT will develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to promote academic, social, and behavioral development in collaboration with families, educators, and related service providers.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 or small group special education services to children in preschool or early childhood settings.
  • Implement individualized instructional strategies and behavioral supports as outlined in the students IEP.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods to meet learning goals.
  • Maintain detailed records of services provided and progress data.
  • Collaborate regularly with parents, general education teachers, therapists, and other service providers.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of goals and educational plans.
  • Provide consultation and training to families and educators to support the childs inclusion and success.
  • Use evidence-based practices and maintain compliance with state and federal special education regulations.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Valid New York State (or relevant state) certification in Students with Disabilities (BirthGrade 2) or appropriate equivalent.
  • Masters degree in Special Education
  • Experience working with preschool children with developmental delays or disabilities.
  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel to multiple sites as needed.
