A school district in Springfield, OH, seeks a dedicated Special Education Teacher to serve elementary students for the uping school year on a contract basis. This role focuses on delivering high-quality special education services within an inclusive learning environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Special Education or related field
- Valid Ohio Department of Education Intervention Specialist License (Mild/Moderate, Moderate/Intensive, or K-12 based on student population)
- Strong knowledge of IDEA and Individualized Education Program (IEP) processes
- Experience implementing individualized instruction, acmodations, and modifications
- Skilled in progress monitoring, data collection, and formative assessments
- Proficient in developing and managing behavior strategies
- Effective collaborator with general education teachers, support staff, and families
- Excellent munication and documentation skills
Preferred:
- Masters degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, or related field
- Background in inclusive education, co-teaching, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
- Training in Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) development
- Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive curriculum tools
- Understanding of Ohio Learning Standards Extended (OLSE)
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in partnership with multidisciplinary teams and families
- Provide direct instruction and interventions addressing academic, social-emotional, and functional skills
- Adapt curriculum and assessments to acmodate student needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusion and co-teaching models
- Use data-driven methods to track student progress and tailor instruction
- Administer assessments and manage Behavior Intervention Plans as necessary
- Facilitate IEP meetings, Evaluation Team Reports (ETRs), and 504 meetings, ensuring thorough documentation
- Maintain regular munication with families regarding student achievements and goals
- Utilize assistive technology and specialized instructional strategies
- Ensure pliance with state and federal special education laws and reporting requirements
- Participate in professional development and training opportunities
- Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
