DESCRIPTION
Machinists are required to set up, program as may be necessary, and operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, boring machines, CNC equipment, and grinders, to machine metallic and nonmetallic work pieces by performing the necessary steps according to drawings provided by the company. Machinists are required to have sufficient experience or familiarity with the programs and equipment used by Connectronics Incorporated to use them or to allow for easy training.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following, however, other duties may apply)
- Performs all tasks in a safe and responsible manner
- Self-starter, motivated for the next task
- Reads and interprets blueprints
- Uses gages and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements
- Uses precision tools, machinery and equipment such as lathe,CNC Swiss, microscopes, grinding machines, vertical milling machine, drill press, chop saw, and band saw.
- Fabricates and shapes parts such as tools and machine parts out of metal, plastics and composites
- Properly and safely selects, aligns, secures and removes holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials onto machines
- Recognizes, deploys and properly uses inserts, fixtures and tooling
- Performs daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment
- Evaluate experimental procedures and recommend change or modifications for efficiency and adaptability to setup and production
- Utilizes and abides by safety procedures
- Complies with all quality policies, specifications, regulations and instructions
- Must be able to follow API Q1 and ISO 9001 standards: CAR’s, PAR’s, NCR’s, Preventive Maintenance, Control of Records, Control of Testing, Measuring and Monitoring Equipment, and Process Control.
Requirements:
QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS/EDUCATION
- Three years of experience preferred. Knowledge in the following areas: assembly; parts; machining; machining symbols; ability to read and understand drawings; CNC operation; quality control; and safety. Effective verbal, written, and mathematical skills are required.
- Must be able to walk and stand throughout an eight or ten-hour day. Must be able to consistently lift 40 lbs. from a floor or table position to chest high using a proper lifting technique. Must be able to repetitively use arms, hands, and fingers in the manipulation of parts. Must demonstrate good hand/eye coordination. Must demonstrate good manual dexterity.
- Strong math skills: add, subtract, multiply, divide, algebra. Must be able to read, evaluate and respond to product specifications and drawings, and perform normal math calculations easily. Must be familiar and comfortable with several types of machinery. Must have strong general mechanical skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
