We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Production Supervisor to join our team. This role involves overseeing production operations, ensuring safety and quality standards are met, and leading a team to achieve production goals. The ideal candidate will have a background in automotive production management and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, lead, coach, and direct team leaders and labor regarding production volume, cost, quality, and meeting production schedules and delivery dates.
  • Manage departmental performance measures, including visual controls, and provide regular progress reports to the UAP Manager.
  • Plan headcount for absences, holidays, training, and workshops.
  • Complete daily attendance registers and ADP data entry, including approving employee time and updating schedules.
  • Conduct standardized work audits and ensure adherence to standardized work within the team.
  • Work with team leaders to schedule operator rotations.
  • Liaise with support functions (maintenance, HSE, quality) to resolve build issues and prevent recurrence.
  • Oversee re-work when required and manage the closure of line QRCIs.
  • Coach team leaders to independently react and resolve issues.
  • Ensure team members respect the principles of the 7 Quality Basics.
  • Maintain adherence to company policies, safety standards, 5S, and good housekeeping practices.
  • Promote continuous improvement in all areas and encourage implementation of improvement ideas.
  • Conduct disciplinary, return-to-work, and performance evaluation interviews with team members.
  • Validate operator polyvalence levels and set weekly polyvalence targets.
  • Assist with additional tasks as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in production supervision within an automotive environment.
  • Knowledge of unionized work environments, specifically UAW.
  • Strong understanding of production management, safety, continuous improvement, and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Proficiency in using Six Sigma and process improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to lead, coach, and manage a diverse team effectively.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with assembly operations.
  • Familiarity with the 7 Quality Basics and standardized work.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Work Environment

You will be working on the plant floor in a very clean and updated facility. The environment is fast-paced, with a 1.5-day lead time on all production (semi-JIT). You will need the ability to work both independently and as part of a team to get the job done. The facility operates with UAW - local 600 and supports approximately 1,000 employees across three shifts. We prioritize safety, continuous improvement, and good housekeeping practices.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Detroit, Michigan.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00/hr.
