POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Sports Director leads all aspects of sports activity programming for the branch, ensuring the cause and culture is instilled in strategy and staff development.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives. Including but not limited to activity rules, guidelines and handbooks.
2. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs staff, contractors and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
3. Establishes new activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
4. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, organizes and schedules program registrations. Reviews and processes program scholarship applications.
5. Manages payroll related transactions and monitors for accuracy and completeness.
6. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
7. Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
8. Coordinates scheduling, safety and use of facilities (on and off-site) for program activities and events.
9. Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
10.Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
11.Actively participates in branch, department and association staff meetings and/or related trainings.
12.Compiles program statistics and submits reports. Makes program modifications as needed.
13. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1.Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent
2.Minimum 1 year supervisory experience in customer service
3.Demonstrated success leading youth programming or equivalent team
4.Demonstrated leadership, dependability & flexibility in work hours
5.Complete within 30 days of hire: YMCA cause & culture, program-specific, BLS CPR, First Aid, Oxygen Administration (provided by YMCA)
6.Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community and successful clearance of background check
7. Follow youth boundaries policies and abuse risk management training.
8. Report suspicious behavior, policy violations, and adhere to mandated abuse reporting and responsibilities.
9. Complete all required abuse prevention training prior to first shift.
10. Screen, train, and enforce abuse prevention policies for staff.
11. Promote a reporting culture, address violations, and maintain confidentiality.
12. Ensure compliance with mandated reporting and communicate zero tolerance to all staff.
