Job Description

Jones Legal, PLLC is hiring an experienced Associate Attorney with a strong background in probate, estate planning, and estate litigation. This is not an entry-level role but is for someone who can step in on day one and take cases from start to finish with minimal supervision. You will manage a full caseload independently—including handling contested probate matters, drafting estate plans, making court appearances, and working closely with clients and support staff.

We’re looking for a confident self-starter who doesn’t need hand-holding and can juggle both routine and complex matters with efficiency and professionalism. This role also includes oversight of junior team members, with the opportunity to grow into a team leadership position as the firm scales.

This is a unique opportunity for an attorney who wants to grow into a leadership role, with a clear path to managing their own legal team. If you're a proactive problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment and values autonomy, impact, and upward mobility, we want to hear from you.

Compensation:

$85,000 - $98,000 yearly

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a full docket of probate, estate planning, and estate litigation cases from intake through resolution
  • Draft and review wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and other estate planning documents
  • Represent clients in probate court, including uncontested and contested matters (e.g., will contests, heirship disputes, fiduciary litigation)
  • Attend hearings, mediations, and trials as needed
  • Conduct legal research, prepare pleadings, motions, and discovery responses
  • Provide strategic guidance and legal counsel to clients with professionalism and empathy
  • Maintain proactive and responsive client communication throughout the case lifecycle
  • Supervise and delegate to paralegals, legal assistants, and other team members on assigned cases
  • Ensure all case deadlines, filings, and compliance requirements are met without supervision
  • Collaborate with the firm owner to improve systems, workflows, and overall client experience
  • Participate in internal case reviews, staff development, and occasional marketing or educational events
  • Contribute to a positive team culture while pursuing opportunities for growth and leadership within the firm

Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have successfully passed the state bar exam
  • Solid communication skills and problem-solving skills required in order to work with clients, staff members and senior attorneys
  • Active member of the American Bar Association (ABA)
  • Prepared to learn from senior attorneys to meet our client needs and grow our client base
  • Has a Juris Doctor (J.D. degree) from an accredited law school
