UGE develops, owns, and operates community and commercial solar and energy storage projects, primarily in the United States. With over a decade of experience in the industry, we are on the front lines, working to accelerate the transition to clean, reliable energy.
Our team is growing quickly, and we seek a talented and motivated individual to join our Project Execution team.
The Project Manager II (PM) is responsible for owning multiple assigned projects in accordance with project contracts, schedules, budgets, and design specifications, as well as overseeing subcontractors and construction managers/coordinators.
Reporting Relationships
Reports to Managing Director, Project Execution as functional Direct Manager. Sr PM to be regarded as a mentoring resource and contract review support.
Responsibilities
- Own projects from Notice to Proceed (NTP) through hand-off to Portfolio Operations.
- Interface with members from other teams within the organization including Development, Engineering, Procurement, and Portfolio Operations, as required for project progress.
- Coordinate with Procurement to secure project Goods and Services with consideration to overall project budget and schedule to realize the forecast Commercial Operation Date (COD).
- Support the EPC selection process, contract execution (including exhibits), and managing those contracts through the life of the project.
- Ensure Certified payroll for contractors is collected and properly validated for regulations.
- Lead the monthly invoice review/drawdown process and finance requirements.
- Preserve the forecast Internal Rate of Return (IRR) defined at budget approval.
- Travel to project locations, as required, to facilitate construction progress.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to others as needed to grow the organization.
- Facilitate any due diligence effort by Independent Engineers prior to NTP through commercial operation.
- Coordinate with any utilities for backup power, crossing agreements, ISP connection, etc.
- Facilitate the transition of the project to O&M/Asset Management post COD.
- 25% Travel as required to shepherd projects to success.
Required Skills and Experience
- A minimum 2 to 4 years of relevant solar or energy storage project management experience (Solar PV, Energy Storage, or Electrical sectors).
- Ability to work as part of a team. Oral and written communication skills.
- Problem-solving skills. Ability to build collaborative relationships.
- Ability to identify and seek needed information/research and drive participating entities to success with deadlines and project goals.
- Familiarity with Smartsheet, Procore, SharePoint, and NetSuite preferred.
- Must have experience with site health and safety standards, small contract and vendor negotiation, onsite inspection, solar contractor management, and core Microsoft Office applications.
Required Education
- Bachelors degree in engineering or other quantitative educational background, or equivalent experience.
