Job Title: Quality Assurance (QA) Tech

Salary: $19.78–$21.50 per hour + Overnight differential

Overview:
The Quality Assurance (QA) Tech is responsible for overseeing the collection, tracking, and organization of product samples to ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements. This role involves collaboration with various departments, meticulous maintenance of records, and support for the QA team in testing and analytical processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quality Control & Audits:

    • Perform routine inspections of incoming and outgoing ingredients and products to verify they meet established quality standards and specifications.

    • Develop and uphold quality control procedures and protocols within the warehouse, ensuring alignment with industry regulations, company policies, and quality standards.

    • Track, communicate, and manage the destruction of ingredients, materials, and finished goods as necessary.

    • Execute frequent audits to confirm compliance with quality and safety protocols.

    • Act promptly to resolve quality-related issues or non-conformities.

    • Monitor and document quality metrics, identifying trends and areas for improvement to enhance processes.

    • Engage in quality improvement initiatives, collaborating with warehouse staff to implement necessary changes.

    • Conduct in-house analytical testing and quality checks on finished products to support the QA team as required.

  • Documentation & Reporting:

    • Create, revise, and uphold standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to quality assurance, sample handling, and documentation.

    • Keep comprehensive records of quality inspections, test results, samples, and audits.

    • Generate reports on sample status, testing results, quality inspections, and key metrics, highlighting areas needing improvement.

    • Ensure all documentation remains current and aligns with regulatory requirements.

    • Support the maintenance and retention of supplier/ingredient approval documentation to comply with regulatory standards.

  • Sample Management:

    • Oversee the collection of product samples from production lines, warehouses, and suppliers.

    • Manage ingredient sampling, testing, and reporting processes.

    • Ensure that samples are accurately labeled, documented, stored, and distributed for testing in accordance with QA protocols.

    • Track sample testing progress to ensure timely completion and compliance with internal quality standards and regulatory requirements.

    • Prepare samples for regulatory inspections and audits, maintaining precise tracking logs, databases, and inventory systems.

    • Communicate sample status and issues to production, supply chain, and QA teams, serving as a liaison between QA and other stakeholders.

    • Identify opportunities to enhance sample management processes and implement best practices.

    • Monitor and manage the inventory of sample-related supplies, ensuring sufficient stock levels and reordering items as needed.

  • Collaboration & Communication:

    • Train warehouse staff on quality control procedures, best practices, and SOPs.

    • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams—such as production, supply chain, purchasing, logistics, and customer service—to uphold quality standards throughout the supply chain.

    • Implement feedback mechanisms to capture customer insights and refine quality processes.

  • Inventory & Sample Tracking:

    • Oversee inventory management to ensure proper storage and handling of products, maintaining quality throughout all processes.

    • Ensure accurate labeling and traceability of products within the warehouse.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in quality assurance, laboratory work, or sample coordination is advantageous.

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Quality Assurance) is a plus. Relevant experience may substitute for formal education.

  • Proficiency in computer systems and software for sample tracking and documentation (e.g., LIMS, Excel).

  • Keen attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping and sample handling.

  • Excellent organizational skills to effectively manage multiple samples and testing schedules.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaborative interaction with team members and other departments.

  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot issues related to sample management and quality testing processes.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Regular exposure to allergens such as milk, eggs, fish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, and soybeans.

  • Continuous operation of computer and other office equipment, including calculators and copiers.

  • Must be able to remain stationary for over 50% of the time.

  • Requires light physical effort, occasionally lifting or moving objects under 10 lbs.

  • Ability to walk, sit, or stand for extended periods.

  • Involves prolonged operation of machinery, including computers and keyboards.
