The Systems Engineer provides leadership, executes extensive engineering/scientific support on systems, system elements, interfacing systems, components, devices and/or processes by using appropriate methods at every level for Menlo Inc. This position is responsible for creating, modifying, maintaining, and supporting infrastructure and individual system components that enable business functions and IT Services. Balance availability, security, efficiency, and functional requirements to help provide an optimized production service. Proactively Identify and manage existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and ensure these risks are effectively identified and escalated to be measured, monitored, and controlled. The engineer takes the lead to research and provide solutions to complex problems. This position requires minimal to no supervision on multiple concurrent complex projects and be able to coordinate work of others. The System Engineer is a senior member of their collaborative team; as a technical expert, this position will also actively participate in the mentorship and development of mid-level and junior-level teammates.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Proactively identify and manage existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role.
- Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.
- Follow written risk and compliance policies and procedures for business activities.
- Design scalable infrastructure with minimal oversight, implement system change with consistency and autonomy, automate service delivery and maintenance tasks, and builds monitoring and tooling for systems.
- Resolve complex production issues with independence by troubleshooting complex systems independently.
- Analyze complex outages to identify opportunities.
- Experiment with new patterns and technologies.
- Understand and consistently exercise engineering best practices, concepts, and patterns
- Understand the customer and identify solutions and ideas for the customer with little assistance.
- Evaluate potential solutions with some oversight.
- Effectively diagnose and troubleshoot high level network element and computer malfunctions relating to faulty hardware, software, server, network and/or configurations.
- Collect data and interpret errors and/or problems in configurations.
- Implement quality control procedures to improve up-time of network and server devices.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of systems and determining actions required to improve system performance.
- Lead special technology projects as required to research and implement new technologies and best practices.
- Recommend networking and systems software and hardware enhancements.
- Diagnose and correct network and system issues in onsite and cloud environments.
- Provide hands-on System Administration support, system maintenance and operation support.
- Build, configure, and troubleshoot application deployments and infrastructure upgrades.
- On-Call hours; rotating schedule.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Good communication skills. Able to communicate technical information to non-technical users effectively.
Physical Requirements
- Able to bend, crawl, stoop and sit.
- Able to lift and move 50 lbs. of weight.
- Occasional ladder climbing and work on elevated equipment.
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time, performing work on a computer.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent. (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
- 5+ years of experience working in enterprise environments.
- MCSE or MCSA Certification. (preferred)
- VoIP experience. (preferred)
- Apple School Manager and MDM experience. (preferred)
- Experience using automated deployment and maintenance technologies.
- Knowledge of warranty procedures for network and server devices.
- Extensive knowledge and experience understanding industry best practices on network architecture and engineering experience in a robust network, product/service and system design, security, and implementation strategies.
