Job Title: Summer Camp Counselor

Summary
Whitefoord’s summer camp, Camp Innovation, is a place for children from ages 4-8 to play, socialize, learn and grow over the summer break. We are seeking an experienced Summer Camp Counselor to expand our current staff for Camp Innovation. The Camp Counselor is responsible for collaborating with other teachers on the supervision and management of their classroom while supporting Summer Learning goals and outcomes. The Summer Camp Counselor would carry out daily activities and ensure the safety and physical well-being of the children, maintain communications with parents, and contribute to the effective operation of the overall childcare program. The ideal candidate has high energy and promotes creativity and enthusiasm.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Carry out daily camp activities in accordance with lesson plans and schedules
- Assist with other camp programming, if required
- Be physically able to accompany the campers to any of the camp activities
- Be able to communicate verbally with campers, and provide instructions
- Have visual ability to recognize hazards in the camp setting and the auditory ability to respond appropriately to those hazards
- Follow all camp rules and guidelines as indicated by the program
- Be able to observe camper behavior and to respond to health and safety concerns
- Maintain the child ratio and coverage in the classroom at all times
Qualifications, Education and/or Experience
- High School Diploma
- Applicable experience working with children, specifically under 10 years of age

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must possess above average command of speaking and writing skills.
REASONING ABILITY: Must be able to exercise sound judgment and concrete thinking when on the spot decision making is required. Ability to seek supervision for emergencies and unusual circumstances. Must be able to participate in regularly scheduled meetings.
