The Role:
AFM is seeking a Director of Information Technology (“Director”) to devise, review, and constantly improve an operationally excellent technology strategy, focusing on improving efficiency and compliance. This requires the Director to understand AFM’s vision and business goals, identify technological opportunities, and align Information Technology (“IT”) initiatives with the overall business strategy and compliance with industry regulations. The Director will report to AFM’s SVP of Operations, Al Rossman (“SVP”), and will be a part of AFM’s leadership team.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced IT professional with a strong background in the accounts receivable industry and demonstrated leadership ability. This position requires a broad range of technical expertise and a willingness to engage in hands-on work across multiple areas, including relational database development, payment processing systems, data security, server administration, and agent desktop provisioning. In this role, the candidate will have the opportunity to build and lead a technical team from the ground up to support the company’s growth. The position reports directly to the SVP and will play a key role in developing and executing AFM’s IT strategy. The candidate will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, coaching team members, and establishing a culture of accountability and performance.
Specific requirements, roles, and responsibilities are described below.
Requirements:
- At least 10 years of experience working in a collection agency environment.
- At least 5 years of experience in a managerial position.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in an IT-related field. Equivalent technical experience and/or technical certifications are also acceptable.
- Broad familiarity with the systems, software, and products used in debt collection, with deep expertise in at least one collection platform. Experience working with CUBS is a strong plus.
- Expertise in server administration and networking, including infrastructure buildout, patching, and securing servers, networks, firewalls, and switches.
- Experience with cloud server administration (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) is a strong plus, particularly in managing virtual machines, storage, networking, and security configurations.
- Demonstrated expertise in cybersecurity and regulatory compliance. Strong understanding of role-based access control (RBAC), least-privilege principles, and industry-standard security best practices. Experience participating in cybersecurity audits or assessments such as SOC 1, SOC 2, ISO/IEC 27001, PCI-DSS, or comparable frameworks is highly desirable.
- Agent desktop support experience required. Expertise in administering systems for a remote workforce is a plus.
- Experience vetting CRMs and leading full-scale system migrations or conversions.
- In-depth knowledge of industry-related technical and security certifications, along with experience securing and maintaining certifications required to attract marquee clients.
- Expertise in relational database architecture, including advanced SQL development and CRUD operations.
- Experience administering payment processing systems.
- Proven leadership in managing technical teams, directing IT operations, and driving compliance with industry regulations.

Key Metrics and Deliverables – FY2026 (Ending September 30, 2026):
- Complete all client-related technology, programming, and system enhancements within 14 days of initial request.
- Obtain/maintain ISO 27001 certification.
- Obtain/maintain PCI certification.
- Obtain/maintain SOC2 certification.
- Internalize IT operations related to endpoint support, infrastructure security, and systems essential to a fully secure and functional remote work environment.
- Manage hardware inventory, including the setup of systems for new internal users.
- Resolve break/fix issues and provide desktop support for internal users.
- Perform a comprehensive IT infrastructure gap assessment, including identification of necessary upgrades, security risks, and long-term viability issues.
- Deliver scalable relational database solutions and optimized SQL code to enable accurate, on-demand reporting and fully functional Power BI dashboards.
- Write technical documentation cataloging all IT-related architecture, processes, and procedures.
Key Metrics and Deliverables – FY2027 (Ending September 30, 2027):
- Migrate AFM’s collection system from CUBS to a new platform by March 31, 2027.
- Deploy a fully integrated company-wide knowledge base system by September 30, 2027.
