This role requires a unique blend of cloud architecture proficiency—across both AWS and Azure—and in-depth knowledge of Guidewire applications including PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter, and BillingCenter. A key focus will be accelerating our adoption of Guidewire Cloud and orchestrating complex migrations from on-premise systems to Guidewire SaaS solutions.
To succeed in this role, you must thrive in complex, fast-paced environments, excel at aligning architectural decisions with business goals, and be passionate about innovation, modernization, and building resilient, cloud-native insurance platforms.
Accountabilities:
Guidewire Architecture Leadership:
- Provide architectural oversight for Guidewire PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter, and BillingCenter implementations, upgrades, and strategic migration initiatives to Guidewire Cloud SaaS.
- Design, optimize, and govern Guidewire Cloud deployments with an emphasis on scalability, resilience, cloud-native best practices, integration, and security.
- Lead efforts to transition legacy on-premise Guidewire environments to the cloud, ensuring minimal disruption and maximized business value.
- Architect and support seamless integrations between Guidewire Cloud applications, digital platforms, third-party services, and AI-powered capabilities.
Cloud Architecture Excellence:
- Architect and design cloud-native, scalable, and secure solutions leveraging AWS and Azure platforms that support Guidewire Cloud and complementary digital ecosystems.
- Define cloud application patterns, microservices architectures, containerization strategies (Kubernetes, Docker), serverless functions, and hybrid cloud models aligned with Guidewire Cloud environments.
- Drive enterprise-wide adoption of cloud-native PaaS/SaaS services, API gateways, event-driven architectures, and DevOps practices that accelerate Guidewire Cloud capabilities.
Enterprise and Application Architecture:
- Develop and maintain end-to-end architecture blueprints that align business strategy with technical capabilities, with a sharp focus on Guidewire Cloud SaaS platforms and migration roadmaps.
- Define scalable and secure patterns for application integration, data governance, compliance, and multi-cloud orchestration in a P&C insurance context.
- Ensure architecture standards, principles, and best practices are adopted across Guidewire Cloud and legacy systems teams.
Technology Modernization and Innovation:
- Lead modernization initiatives, platform rationalization, and digital transformation efforts, with Guidewire Cloud migration as a core pillar.
- Guide teams in embedding AI/ML services, advanced analytics, and intelligent automation into core Guidewire Cloud platforms and digital solutions.
Collaboration and Advisory:
- Partner closely with engineering, business, and infrastructure leaders to deliver enterprise-grade cloud and Guidewire solutions.
- Mentor solution architects, developers, and engineers to uplift architectural capabilities focused on Guidewire Cloud expertise and cloud migration strategies.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of overall experience in IT architecture, with strong emphasis on insurance core systems and cloud platforms.
- 5+ years of hands-on Guidewire experience (on-premise v10+, Guidewire Cloud SaaS), including PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter, and BillingCenter implementations.
- 3+ years of proven experience with Guidewire Cloud platforms and SaaS deployments, including leading large-scale on-premise to Guidewire Cloud migration projects.
- Deep expertise across AWS and Azure cloud services (Compute, Storage, Networking, IAM, Security, Containers, Serverless, Integration) supporting Guidewire Cloud environments.
- Strong experience with cloud-native architectures including microservices, API management, event-driven design, DevOps, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices (Terraform, CloudFormation) in Guidewire Cloud contexts.
- Hands-on experience integrating Guidewire Cloud systems with digital applications, customer portals, and AI capabilities (e.g., intelligent document processing, predictive analytics).
- Strong knowledge of security, privacy, and compliance frameworks (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA) in cloud and insurance domains, particularly within Guidewire Cloud SaaS environments.
- Deep understanding of enterprise integration patterns, data architecture, workflow orchestration, and business process modeling tailored for Guidewire Cloud deployments.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to design pragmatic solutions to complex cloud migration and modernization challenges.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and influencing skills across technical and business stakeholders, especially related to cloud adoption and Guidewire transformation initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline; Master’s degree preferred.
- Guidewire certifications (PolicyCenter Specialist, Cloud Certified Associate) highly preferred.
- AWS or Azure Architect certifications strongly advantageous, ideally with demonstrated expertise in Guidewire Cloud environments.
