JOB SUMMARY
The Industrial Auto Painter is responsible for operating or tending painting equipment to coat transportation equipment—such as stock trailers and spray rigs—with primer, finish, or decorative coatings.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Mix, stir, and thin paints using spatulas or power mixing equipment.
• Prepare vehicle surfaces by removing grease, dirt, rust, or old paint using abrasives, solvents, or sandblasters.
• Apply primers and finish coatings to surfaces using spray guns.
• Adjust spray gun nozzles and paint mixes to ensure proper coating thickness and flow.
• Inspect painted surfaces for flaws and correct imperfections such as streaks or blisters.
• Clean, disassemble, and reassemble sprayers and power equipment.
• Choose appropriate spray systems based on materials used.
• Apply rust-resistant undercoats, caulking, and seal seams.
• Sand surfaces between coats to ensure smooth finish and adhesion.
• Set up and operate portable equipment such as scaffolding, exhaust units, or ventilators.
• Move equipment and materials using lifting devices.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Experience in HVLP or airless spray systems is preferred
• Strong communication (verbal and written)

• Regularly perform moderately physically demanding tasks
• Climbing ladders, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling
• Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects weighing 20–50 lbs
• Ability to distinguish sounds and visual signals
• Ability to communicate effectively in a loud environment
