Position Summary:
Reliability Engineers are dedicated to the optimization of asset reliability by focusing on the detection and prevention of failures. The Reliability Engineer analyzes data and applies engineering principles to drive improvements in asset utilization with cross functional teams. Reliability Engineers look at the Total Cost of Ownership, replacement strategies, and lead reliability focused improvement projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works with Maintenance department to improve and the PM / PdM and Asset Integrity programs.
- Reviews, updates, and/or develops FMEA’s and maintenance strategies.
- Facilitates and/or participates (as SME) in Root Cause Analyses of equipment failures and operational interruptions.
- Drive improvements in equipment uptime
- Provide equipment troubleshooting expertise.
- Assists in managing global reliability improvement initiatives.
- Lead, Root Cause Analyses of process safety incidents, equipment failures and operational interruptions / incidents.
- Participates in or leads equipment specification reviews.
- Assists in the development of parts and spare parts lists.
Education and Experience:
- B.S. from an accredited college in Engineering (Mechanical preferred)
- 5 to 8 or more years of experience in Chemical, Oil & Gas, Power Generation Industry in Reliability, Maintenance, and/or Asset Management role.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- Strong knowledge and experience in CMMS, preferably SAP.
- Knowledgeable in Reliability tools, methodologies, and analysis such as FMEA, MTBF, MTTR
- Knowledgeable in failure analysis, vibration analysis, thermography, NDE, and extensive knowledge in Predictive Methodologies
- Knowledgeable in Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and/or Operational Asset Utilization (OAU).
- Advanced use of Root Cause Analysis methodologies such as Apollo (Cause and Effect Diagrams).
- Knowledgeable with industry standards and practices (RAGAP, API, NFPA, ASME, etc.).
- Organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to influence outside resources that do not report to the position.
- Competence in MS Office is required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of process data to size pumps, exchangers, control valves, flow meters and other basic equipment or unit operations.
