Job DescriptionMechanical Quality Inspector - Temp to Hire - NEED GD&T
A provider of tactical night vision systems is currently searching for a Mechanical Quality Inspector. If you have a strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge and experience with GD&T and are looking for an exciting temp to hire opportunity, this position in Alpharetta, GA is for you!
Shift: Monday-Friday 7:30AM-4PM
Pay rate: $25.00/hr - $35.00/hr depending on experience
Responsibilities of the Mechanical Quality Inspector:
- Confers with management to determine quality and reliability standards.
- Examines quality of products or parts as specified on Inspection Criteria Sheet and Quality Alert.
- Keeps measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions; address issues to Quality Supervisor/Manager immediately.
- Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; create documentation to recommend reject and returning unacceptable materials.
- Inspects, measures and tests parts and products for a variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance utilizing precision measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges, and other monitoring tools.
- Records test data, applying statistical quality control procedures.
- Check in-process production by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicate quality concerns to production supervisor/Manager with Specification/test result and put parts on HOLD by applying appropriate labeling if necessary.
- Observe and monitor production operations and equipment to ensure conformance to specifications and address issues to Production Supervisor or Manager and Quality manager.
- Evaluates and reports deviations from existing standards to Quality Manager.
- Accepts or rejects product or parts using control method. Makes sure non-conforming products or parts are identified clearly and segregated.
- Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality.
- May also perform activities of assembly, production including using tools and equipment.
- Trains new and employees for quality inspection.
- Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.
- Document inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into quality database.
- Meet and maintain ISO9001 requirements.
Qualifications of the Mechanical Quality Inspector:
- Three (3) to Five (5) years Quality Mechanical Inspection experience.
- 5 years of strong GD&T experience
- Ability to use basic hand measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauge pins, etc.) required.
- Experience with metrology, GD&T, blueprint reading, CMM operation a plus.
- Fluency in ISO 9001 program management and implementation is an asset.
- Self-starter and requires minimal supervision.
- Safe work practices.

- Metrology skills including calibration.
- Able to manage multiple priorities & meet deadlines.
- Good computer skills, Microsoft Office, Share Point and ERP.
- Uses logical approach to problem solving in Production & Continuous Improvement.
- Understands the role of Quality in a manufacturing organization and a Quality Operating System.
