Position Summary:
The Dialysis Authorization-Registration Specialist serves to support and enhance the activities of the Dialysis Center. This individual must have excellent clinical and communication skills to support the needs of the unit and must multi-task to efficiently support staff, interact with Providers and maintain an organized work environment. The Dialysis Authorization/Registration Specialist is responsible for pre-authorization, patient education, inbound/outbound referrals, scheduling patients, welcoming guests and patients, and obtaining appropriate information. This person will register information into the computer system, direct traffic flow, and maintain communication between clinicians, patients, and other staff members. This individual will communicate and assist in direct care of patients and families. This person will ensure the timely flow of patients and assist medical providers to provide optimal care to patients of all age groups including the physically and mentally challenged. This individual possesses the knowledge and skills required to complete assignments at a proficient level.
Essential Functions:

<li>Organizes daily workload to maintain efficient flow of department activity: scheduling, screening of patients’ pre-authorizations, patient education, and inbound/outbound patient referrals. Referral expectations are within 3 days to initiate and or 24 hours/STAT checking for required dialysis admission criteria. </li>
<li>Maintains departments scheduling needs; shows cooperative attitude when a change is needed within the department.</li>
<li>Regularly demonstrates the ability to coordinate a series of requests with a high degree of accuracy.</li>
<li>Demonstrates knowledge of filing and order entry with few errors.</li>
<li>Demonstrates the ability to prepare statistics (daily and monthly).</li>

<li>Communicate effectively by phone and in person with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare team members.</li>
<li>Perform clerical duties related to chart maintenance, patient admission, transfer, and discharge. This includes, but is not limited to, sending faxes, making copies, working with physician’s offices and transcription, answering phones and directing calls.</li>
<li>Maintain knowledge of job-related duties working within the dialysis center’s policies and procedures.</li>
<li>Receives patients and visitors in a friendly, timely fashion.</li>
<li>Ascertains their needs and directs patients and visitors accordingly.</li>
<li>Registers the patient in applicable systems which involves making necessary inquiries for specific information.</li>
<li>Recognizes and honors the importance of confidentiality during all phases of patient registration and discharge.</li>
<li>Demonstrates phone etiquette, answers the telephone promptly, communicates appropriate information, and takes messages accurately.</li>
<li>Directs patient and visitor traffic flow as necessary.</li>

<li>Assist dialysis staff with other items/duties as requested by the manager.</li>
<li>Collaborate with applicable ancillary departments to ensure scheduling needs are completed for upcoming appointments.</li>

About the role  
 
Spectrum Community Services is hiring compassionate, honest, energetic Direct Support Professionals.  This position is responsible for on-site coordination of active treatment in Adult Foster Care (AFS) or Community Living Services (CLS) homes or private residence, serving individuals with physical, cognitive, and/or behavioral disabilities.  Responsibilities may include but are not limited to helping clients with cooking, cleaning, community integration, health, and personal care. 
Experience working with people with disabilities (preferred but not required). We provide all required training including CPR/FA certification.
