We seek service-oriented, outgoing individuals to join the Ramona Park team to provide excellent service to patrons by lifeguarding. Lifeguards will monitor beach activity, serve in the concession stand, and perform facility and beach maintenance. 
The season begins May 23, 2025, and continues through Labor Day. Hours and shifts vary; 30-40 hours/week. Must be available through Labor Day, including weekends and holidays. Ramona Park Beach is only open on weekends until public schools are dismissed in June.
Applicants must be a minimum of 16 years of age and have reliable transportation. Hold a Red Cross Lifeguard certification. Ramona Park staff who work through Labor Day will receive an end-of-season bonus based on hours worked over the summer. Hourly rates begin at $14.25/hour and are based on experience. The Astoria Aquatic Center is currently accepting applications for Swim Instructors for the upcoming summer season and beyond! We're looking for reliable individuals who can commit to a regular schedule, with availability to work a minimum of two days per week. 
SUMMARY
Swim Instructors teach children of various ages and skill levels, helping them build confidence, improve technique, and enjoy the water in a safe and supportive environment. In addition, Swim Instructors support facility operations by promoting water safety, monitoring patrons, enforcing safety rules, preventing and responding to emergencies, providing first aid and maintaining the cleanliness of the facility. 
Individuals without prior experience will begin as a Swim Instructor 1 and will receive hands-on training alongside experienced Swim Instructors to learn how to effectively lead classes, develop and follow lesson plans, engage with participants and communicate progress with parents or guardians. In this role, individuals are expected to gain the skills needed to independently manage classes, understand the criteria for each swim level and successfully complete all required training before advancing to Level 2 Swim Instructor position. 
SCHEDULE
Swim Instructors work part-time and are scheduled based on their availability and the staffing needs of the facility. We are looking for Swim Instructors available to work at least two days per week. Part-time positions with the City are limited to working no more than 129 hours per month.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

<li>Performs water safety and learn to swim instructional activities, while maintaining a safe and positive learning environment. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Aquatics Manager and in coordination with the Recreation Coordinator and Head Lifeguards.</li>
<li>Teaches skills and strokes according to the performance standards for each level.</li>
<li>Encourages and helps foster an environment which promotes water safety, learning in a positive and fun manner and encourages students to become lifelong swimmers.</li>
<li>Prepares instructional objectives and lesson plans for each class.</li>
<li> Follows outlined guidelines for each class/level.</li>
<li>Adapts teaching approaches to the age, experience, and ability of participants.</li>
<li>Provide positive and productive communication to parents regarding their children's progress at least three times throughout the course of the swim session.</li>
<li>Completes records and reports as needed.</li>
<li>Enforces all aquatic facility policies, rules, and regulations.</li>
<li>Possesses a basic knowledge of facility's emergency action plan and understands the secondary role their position is expected to perform in an emergency.</li>
<li>Demonstrates understanding of and adheres to all safety regulations and practices.</li>
<li>Proactively and frequently participates in facility cleaning. Including but not limited to; sweeping, mopping and sanitizing floors, wiping down and sanitizing surfaces, taking out the garbage, picking up debris, cleaning restrooms, laundering hand towels and lost and found items, etc.</li>

 Swim Instructor We are looking for Swim Instructors at Forma Gym. We are looking for someone that can start right away! We are looking for someone to do private lessons, but be available to sub group lessons. Privates are scheduled around your and the clients availability, however we have demands for lessons mornings and weekends. Children are 6 months old and up, the majority are around 3 -7 years and most of them are beginners. Looking for someone with experience teaching water safety and basic swim to young children, someone with an upbeat and happy personality that makes swim lessons a fun, yet safe, learning experience. If you are interested in teaching adults as well, there are opportunities for that too. Forma is more than a gym.
